Stock Market Live Updates 7 August 2024: Sensex, Nifty rise amid global market rebound; oil & gas index gains over 3%

Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices LIVE: Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are trading higher and in a range-bound manner on Wednesday, mirroring gains in Asian markets as traders reassess U.S. recession concerns. Realty stocks are in focus amid expected changes to the long-term capital gains (LTCG) indexation proposal. At 2 p.m., the Sensex climbed 647.37 points to 79,240.44, and the Nifty rose 233.60 points to 24,226.15. Despite a 1.2% gain on Tuesday, both indices have lost about 4% over the past three sessions. Anand James of Geojit Financial Services noted that while the Nifty’s pullback was anticipated, its extent was surprising. He expects a downward trend with potential recovery targets at 24,067, 24,154, and 24,262, though volatility may limit gains. Asian markets saw gains, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 2.91% and the Topix surging 4.12%. U.S. markets also rebounded, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rising 1% after recent Federal Reserve comments.
